Business Group Supports House for Making Tax Cuts Permanent
Reacting to the passage of legislation in the House of Representatives to extend indefinitely last year's tax cuts, John Endean, president of the American Business Conference, a coalition of CEOs of midsize American firms, said:
"We congratulate the House for passing legislation today making last year's tax cut bill permanent. The 2001 act was a solid bipartisan achievement that brought much-needed relief to all taxpayers. It merely makes common sense for the tax cuts enacted last year to be extended beyond their current, and arbitrary, sunset date. Yo-yos make great toys, but tax rates, when they go down one year and up the next, are anything but fun for Americans who have to plan for their future.
Now it's up to the Senate. We urge the Senate to follow the House, not just in making tax relief permanent, but also in passing a budget resolution that will credibly control federal spending."
