CEOs Applaud Nussle Budget Proposal

The members of the American Business Conference (ABC), CEOs of fast-growing, midsize American companies, today applauded the FY 2005 budget proposal offered by House Budget Chairman Jim Nussle (R, IA). Commenting on the plan, John Endean, ABC's president said:
"Mr. Nussle is to be congratulated for his efforts to bring discipline to the government's budget-making process at a time when discipline is greatly needed. There is much in his proposal to commend including his insistence on putting all spending programs, including mandatory programs, on the table.
"We also agree that no budget can be credible without recognizing the cost of the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. And the Chairman is certainly right to resist new earmarks, budget waivers, and 'non-war' supplementals without offsets. Finally, we strongly support Mr. Nussle's efforts to restore recently expired budgetary enforcement provisions.
