CEO Group Praises Appointment of John Snow as Secretary of the Treasury
The members of the American Business Conference (ABC), CEOs of fast-growing midsize American companies, today praised President Bush's appointment of John Snow as the new Secretary of the Treasury.
Commenting on the choice of Mr. Snow, John Endean, ABC's president, said:
"Our CEO-members were pleased that President Bush moved both wisely and quickly to name a new Treasury Secretary. At a time of considerable challenges for the American economy, it was crucial to get someone on board as soon as possible. In turning to Mr. Snow, the President has selected a man of deep experience, undoubted integrity, and first-rate intellectual ability. ABC members are gratified that Mr. Snow has responded positively to the President's call.
Long a business leader of distinction, Mr. Snow most recently has impressed ABC members with his leadership on corporate governance reform - a set of issues crucial for renewing investor confidence and improving the efficiency of the nation's capital markets. In addition, Mr. Snow's considerable experience in the ways of Washington should assist him as he advances the President's domestic and international economic priorities. In that task, ABC members look forward to assisting him in any way they can."
The American Business Conference is a nonpartisan Washington-based coalition of chief executives of midsizes, fast-growing corporations. ABC members advocate policies to promote economic growth and a higher standard of living for all Americans.
