American Business Conference
Policy Statements Press Releases ABC Foundation for Economic Growth
Founded in 1981, the American Business Conference (ABC) is the voice of the midsize, high growth sector of the economy. Based in Washington, D.C., ABC advocates public policies to promote growth, entrepreneurship, and a higher standard of living for all Americans. ABC is nonpartisan and does not contribute to political campaigns or political parties.
Membership in ABC is extended to men and women who are either the chief executive, chairman, or president of a qualifying company. To qualify for membership, a company must have annual revenues of at least $25 million and must be growing in revenues or earnings at a minimum average annual rate of twice the growth rate of the economy plus inflation. Member firms that cease to maintain the growth standard leave the organization and are replaced with other qualified companies.
ABC's members determine ABC's agenda. For maximum effectiveness, they have chosen to focus on a few, critical issues they believe to be the most important determinants of economic growth.
These agenda items include:
· Federal Fiscal and Budgetary Policy;
· International Trade and Investment;
· Regulatory and Litigation Reform; and
· Education and Training.
All ABC activities and meetings in Washington are designed to enable ABC members to communicate their views on important issues of public policy as efficiently and effectively as possible to those policymakers in positions of real responsibility.
In addition, ABC regularly publishes reports on topics as diverse as fundamental tax reform, capital formation and capital costs, saving and consumption, and international competitiveness. To supplement these publications, ABC maintains excellent relations with interested members of the press as a means of insuring that the views of its members on important matters receive appropriate attention and consideration.
